Ecost.com is one of the worst companies I've done business with.  The products they shipped me were defective, and even though I followed their return proceedures too a tee, they refused to provide a return authorization number.  They resell DEFECTIVE junk, then you're stuck with it.  They do not honor the defective return policy published on their website.  DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

 I purchased ( non-refundable )  Platinum Premium membership in hope to win one of there special sales. I have found that they list these special for a half a minute or so, which make it impossible to win.I called and complained and they told me you have to refresh the page with I did every ten seconds. If the idem does show up your given a code to put in before you can get to it. By that time your to late. I think these practices should be investigated for fraud.

I've ordered regularly from eCost.com since its inception, but, after an experience this Christmas, I will no longer do so.  I placed an order on Dec. 12, with plenty of time to arrive for Christmas.  I received an email canceling that order on Dec. 20, saying that I didn't respond to their request for more information.  I never received a request from eCost.com!  I called customer service, and they wouldn't reinstate my order, unless I paid extra for a different shipping method.  The customer service agent would not let me speak to a supervisor.

I've never had a comparable experience, where an online retailer made a mistake and wouldn't make things right--especially around Christmas, when customers are won and lost.  I'm not sure what went wrong at eCost, but I won't order from them again.

I ordered 2 sets of PC speakers and only received one of the sets

I'm very disappointed in ecost. I ordered 2 sets of PC speakers and only received one of the sets. I informed them, they escalated to a 'supervisor' who tried to blame UPS. However, I carefully explained that the shipment, boxed at their warehouse, did not contain 2 sets of PC speakers as was indicated on the packing slip. The shipping box was big enough for 2 sets, but only contained 1. I haven't heard back from the supervisor; it's been 3 weeks now. I still have only the one set of speakers (open box merchandise sold as new, by the way). There seems to be nothing left to do. I've already called, emailed and submitted a case to the customer support. Why can't they simply check the shipment weight to prove I didn't receive the merchandise?

DO NOT BUY FROM eCOST! I got screwed! I ordered a Christams present from my mother on 12/08/09 and paid for 5-7 day shipping. I receive and email that my package is finally shipped on Dec 18 with an estimated arrival of 12/29! In who's world is that 5-7 days! Merry Chritsmas MOM, Now you get a picture of the GPS I bought you to open. When I called eCost they were unwillingly to do anything to help and wuould not transfer me to a manager! Horrible shopping experience!

I ordered a combination kodak camera and printer dock with a special price for the combo.  What I received was only the camera but months after I ordered the items.  When I called to question the company I was put on hold and then hung up on repeatedly!  When I finally got someone on the phone I refused to allow them to put me on hold and the answer I finally got was that the printer dock wasn't carried any more.  When I asked about a refund they refunded me $15 of the total.  I REALLY don't think that was an appropriate amount but at this point I was done arguing.  I will never do business with this company ever.  Just remember, if it looks too good to be true... it probably is.

Ordered a Samsung NV3 Recertified camera.  It was on backorder.  When they received more units they shipped promptly.  Camera in good shape, but battery is completely dead, and will not take a charge, therefore camera inoperational.   Contacted ECom, they referred me to Samsung.  Samsung had no record of the serial number.  Samsung refused to replace the battery because I did not buy it from them.  Ecost customer service referred it to a higher level, but I never heard from them.  Multiple calls, each being referred up the ladder with no results or contact.  I requested a $15 refund and I would go buy a battery, Again referred up , but again no response.  They will not let you talk to a manager or give out a phone no.  I will not deal with Ecost again due to their problem resolution policies.  They completely ignore the problem and refuse to contact you.

Cancellation and nondelivery of product

Placed an order for two Apple IPod Nano's on November 22nd.  Confirmed payment with their credit department.  Was notified the items were to be shipped on 11/24/09.  Per their confirmation the items were sent to UPS. 
12/5 - checked my credit card.  A credit for the purchase was issued.  No notification by ecost.
12/5 - called ecost.  Said UPS never picked up the order.  Confirmed with their Rep that UPS picks up orders from them every day.  Was told the order was cancelled because it was not picked up.  Requested a supervisor.  No one answered, left msg, no call back.
NOTE:  These were major Santa Claus presents for two out of five children.  All they have asked for. Their Father laid off 11/30 after being back at work only 3 months due to a previous lay off.

A confused company!

Ordered an TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX(4GB memory). They shipped a TWIN2X2048-6400C5DHX(2GB memory). Ordered part 11-16-09. Shipped 11-17. Received 11-23. Found out it was the wrong part. Contacted JBaker at eCOST 11-23. Got back to me 11-25. Called to see if eCOST are going to give me a refund or ship the right part. eCOST said "they will determined that, when they get the package". Also said they were going to take the item off the web. Got shipping label and sent package 11-25. Checked the web for the item. Still there for $86.99 on 11-29. Package arrived at eCOST 12-03. Called to see if eCOST are going to give me a refund or ship the right part. eCOST said "They only give a refund if you return a Package". Grrrr. Went to purchase a new one. Did a price comparison. Found eCOST is now selling the item for $162.99. Doubled in price. When I order the new part it will take a week. I spent a month with out my part. I find this company very confused!

Placed an order on Tuesday with 2 day delivery, and called repeatedly on Thursday when the computer showed it hadn't shipped yet.  The first person said it was going to ship today, the second one said it was going to ship from an affiliate warehouse next week, and when I called a third time to cancel the order I was told it shipped yesterday and was too late to cancel. 

These people clearly have no problem making up stories and lying about the status of orders to try to make a sale - I'll go elsewhere next time, even if it costs a couple bucks more.

NIGHTMARE VACUUM CLEANER COURTESY OF ECOST

I would not buy anything from eCost. Our brand new Dyson Vacuum cleaner arrived to us in an unusable form: the vacuum is not sucking up dust or anything, the brush on the vacuum is not working, one  attachment is broken  (not from the shipment process). Now, eCost is telling us that we have to pay to return merchandise that they sold to us broken. The "repair shop" is miles away, and the "repair" guy doesn't have the greatest of reputations when it comes to "repairs". eCcost should be investigated.  It seems that I am not the only one complaining of defective merchandise being sold by these clowns.

Ordered 3 blue tooth headsets. 2 fine, 1 DOA. Would not charge or power up.  Easy to trouble shoot, since I had 2 others of the same model.  Called up Ecost for exchange (wanted same model).  Ecost customer rep insisted that I call manufacturer to trouble shoot DOA device. I replied that was not interested in calling the manufacturer and trouble shooting, since it was clearly DOA.  She then informed me that I would have to also pay shipping back to Ecost and 20% restocking fee.  Buyer beware!  Seems if you purchase anything from Ecost that is defective, plan on the run around.

eCost advertised a new computer monitor but shipped me a refurbished one. I notified them the day it arrived and had lots of trouble getting them to take back the monitor. Ultimately had to dispute the charge to my credit card. Their customer service is horrible. I'll never purchase from eCost again.

This is not a good company.  Stay away. I've done a search of their business after my own experience and find so many people that have had bad dealings with them. I myself have experienced price switching after the purchase. I purchased PC Ram at one price, they cancelled my order stating it was not available from the manufacturer and yet that very same day they updated their website with an increased price on that same item and marking it "in stock."

Absolute nightmare!  Worst consumer experience of my (age 50+) life! They sold me a defective Ipod.  It would not play music if I moved it.  I returned it and they replaced it with one that would not hold a charge.  I told them I wanted a refund.  They promised me a refund in writing, but then they alleged that they didn't receive the Ipod and refused to refund my money.  I gave them the FedEx tracking number and they still alleged that they never received the defective replacement Ipod.  While I was arguing with their call center in India, they sent me a third defective Ipod instead of giving me a refund. (This one wouldn't hold a charge either.)  I sent the third one back to their headquarters in Texas and heard nothing from them.  I contacted them by email and received a series of messages promising to contact me in 24-48 hours, but no one ever responds. Over 5 months, I repeatedly attempted to obtain my refund by writing letters to their headquarters, sending emails and talking with their call center in India. Never buy anything from this company.

I've ordered from eCost on several occasions, I'd say about half went through with no problems, the other half were nothing but trouble.  They call, they email saying there's a problem with the order -- I call, I respond to the emails and then a few days later they send an email saying they cancelled the order due to no response.  This last order, I received an email from someone who actually gave a name and a direct phone number and when I called the 800-number and dialed his extension, my phone went dead - three times I tried.  Their customer service is in India or the Phillipines or something, can hardly understand them.  It's to the point where I don't bother ordering from them if it's something I really need, just stuff where they had a good price on it, so if I don't get it I'm not really worried about it.  They're undependable.

Purchased a trial membership for Platinum Service on eCost, but failed to read the fine print (don't remember it anywhere). It sucked, the "Platinum Membership" was nothing more than a whole lot of bogus emails telling you that you can get something like a big screen TV for $199. When you go to the site--the very link they give you--the price has expired.

Then after four weeks they post a $39.98 charge to your account without telling you. As I never use the account, I was unaware that there was a balance and ignored it for 2 months. Of course the fees made the $39.98 double--so I was paying twice the amount for some crap service I didn't even want.

I write to eCost and they ignore me. Finally I complain to the credit company and they call. eCost finally answers and wouldn't back out the charge. Then eCost refers me to Linda Potter (no relation to Henry) and she is absolutely worthless. Takes 2-3 weeks to get back to me and will not let me to take this higher up the chain.

Stay away!
